RX113 Group User’s Manual: Hardware

First RX Family Devices with Built-in Capacitive Touch Sensor and LCD Controller/Driver

The RX113 Group integrates a built-in 12-channel capacitive touch sensor and an LCDC controller/driver of up to 40 seg x 8 com. The capacitive touch sensor uses an improved detection method compared to previous products and so has vastly improved noise immunity and sensitivity. Furthermore, with built-in USB 2.0 (full-speed, low-speed) and 12-bit D/A converter, healthcare and wearable devices―or wearable technology―can be constituted by a single chip. RX113 microcontrollers are also suitable for applications such as user interfaces of home appliances, and industrial measuring devices.

Capacitive Touch Sensing

First built-intouch keyin the RX Family, supporting self-capacitance and mutual capacitance methods (100pin only)

High sensitivity
Allows reliable sensing even with acrylic panels with thicknesses in excess of 10 mm and implementation of curved panels. (Note 1)
High noise immunity
Capabilities meet the IEC 61000-4-3 and IEC 61000-4-6 standards. (Note 1)
Easy parameter corrections
Automatic parameter adjustment reduces the need for bothersome external circuit adjustments

Specialized knowledge and many development resources are necessary for building software for a capacitive touch system and adjusting sensitivity by changing external circuits. The new touch system development environment automates source code generation and sensitivity adjustment, making development much easier.

Low Power LCD Controller/Driver

Supports 5V panels by internal voltage boost. Also supports contrast control. Just the RTC and LCD can be operated even while in standby mode. RTC periodic interrupt can be used to carry out blinking operation.

RTC periodic interrupt can be used to switch between pattern A and pattern B. The LCD display can be blinked by setting reverse patterns to A and B. Just the RTC and LCD can be operated even while in standby mode to carry out blinking operation. Additionally, the internal voltage boost circuit can be used to adjust the 5V interface of the LCD display panel and the display contrast in sixteen stages.
